Saints

My friend had been religious.
He was a worshipping man
Before some ‘Saints’ insulted him.
Then from the church he ran

I asked him about this problem.
But this is all he’d say:
"Some Saints are very mean people."
(What made him feel that way?)

Could he have attended a church
To pray to God with the best,
But found the ‘Saints’ aloof from him?
(Maybe they were too blessed.)

Some ‘Saints’ make sure folks go to hell
They condemn and they scold
Showing no love or kindness
Excluding folks from their fold.

Should you ever make a mistake,
Certain ‘Saints’ will gossip most.
But back in church, they speak their tongues,
Full of their ‘holy ghost’.

You see, some ‘Saints’ will testify
That God has “brought them through.”
Declaring God has saved them.
But, why can’t they speak to you?

So brutally, many ‘Saints’ will judge,
Deeming folks as unclean
And driving them from their church,
Being just plain ol' mean.

‘Saints’ I speak of in this poem
Have done the church much harm.
So don’t partake in their abuse.
Please use some tact and charm.
