GUMMSAA Scholarship
PLEASE HELP PAY AT LEAST ONE OR TWO STUDENTS’ TUITION
FOR ONE YEAR
We have started Registration at the Ganta United Methodist Mission School. Classes begin the first week in October. Its good to hear that some of our brothers and sisters in the States are willing to help some of our school children at Ganta Mission with their tuition, books, clothes and other school expenses. After the civil war in Liberia, most parents are unable to send their children to school because of the difficult financial situation. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Alumni Association Provides Scholarship for
Ganta United Methodist Mission School Students
And Subsidy for Teachers' salaries
At the July 14, 15, and 16, 2006 Reunion, and Tele-conference of August 6, 2006, the Association agreed to appropriate $350.00 US towards scholarship for deserving students at Ganta United Methodist Mission School this year. Money to be sent before the end of August 2006.
In addition, the Association has also made available the amount of $840.00 US to subsidize teachers' salaries.
From the information reaching us from the Principal's office, this is the teachers' salary scale.
One monthly payroll is about $2,000.00 when converted into USD.
Our salary structure looks like this. Amount converted from L$ to US$:
Our salaries at the school range as follows:
Principal…………………$175.00 x 1 x 12 = 2,100.00
V. Principal……………… 112.00 x 2 x 12 = 2,288.00
KRTTI graduates………… 50.00 x 14 x 12 = 10,920.00
BSc holders……………… 65.00 x 13 x 12 = 9,360.00
Approximate Yearly Total……………………$25,068.00
The exchange rate fluctuates so these figures are all estimates.
Individual Donations Promised Thus Far Include:
Mrs. Belleh
pledged $300.00 for teachers’ salary,
Mr. Allen Blegay
pledged one-year supplementary teacher’s salary,
Ms. Ivy Miller and Mrs. Marie Baah Davis
pledged to purchase school supplies for one year.
Ms. Ellen Miller, Ms. Ivy Miller, Francis Miller, and Thomas Durin,
pledged to provide support for one teacher’s salary for one year.
The school year (2006/2007) will close on August 13, 2006 and re-open
sometimes early October 2006.
More support is needed for Scholarships and Teachers’ Salaries. PLEASE HELP!

IN SENDING ALL MONEYS THROUGH
THE GENERAL BOARD OF GLOBAL
MINISTRIES, PLEASE FOLLOW THE
FOLLOWING PROCEDURES:
Send the check with a cover letter addressed to:
Edwin Francisco
Treasurer Office
General Board of Global Ministries
475 Riverside Drive
New York, NY 10115
Include in the cover letter that the check should be placed in the 2.41 account for Liberia and is for GANTA UNITED METHODIST SCHOOL, ATTENTION: JOHN GBELIA.
This way, they will not mix these funds up
with the Operation Classroom funds. This way, Mr. Gbelia will be able to access the funds directly from the UMC treasurer in Monrovia. Before sending the check with the cover letter, please scan the check and cover letter and send to Bro Gbelia. This way, he can give copy to the AFE (Area Financial Executive assigned by the GBGM) and the UMC Treasurer so they
can be on the "look out" for these funds and advise him when the funds come in. There is usually a two month turnaround period when sending funds through the GBGM.
