Teleconference, Dec. 3, 2006 in attendance:

The meeting started at 8:25 pm with prayer led by Victoria Biah.

  1. The president welcomed everyone and he also welcomed the newcomers. He thanked everyone for coming to the conference. He read the agenda he had prepared.

  2. Dr. Taryor asked the president why was the agenda not prepared and posted on the internet for every one to read and review before this meeting. The president said that the secretary did not make the agenda. He blamed the secretary for not having an agenda ready.

    Dr. Boayue said that it is the president’s responsibility to prepare the agenda for each meeting and pass it to the secretary for posting on the web site. The president said that it was in the constitution that the secretary was to prepare an agenda. Dr. Boayue read the constitution, and contrary to the President’s statement, there was no stipulation in the constitution that the secretary was the one responsible for preparing the agenda for each meeting. However, the president promised to have an agenda prepared early and on time to be posted on the internet several days before the next meeting and said that we must move on with the discussion.

  3. Progress report from R.I. was tabled until Uluma, the Treasurer of the New England Chapter joined the conference. Later when she came on, she read the financial report.

      Income: 29 people paid
      Total Income- $3,516.00
      Total Expense $1,274.00
      Profit $1,441.01

      The president thanked the New England Chapter and also thanked Dr. Taryor for helping to coordinate the event. Dr. Taryor in turn thanked the all the persons from the New England Chapter who helped to make the meeting a success.

      Ellen Kau Miller, the chairlady of the New England Chapter, thanked all who attended the inaugural program. She thanked all who contributed to its success.

      R.I. asked for the evaluation form that was in everyone’s folder to be returned.

      Sennie Rebecca Goosby thanked the R.I. Chapter for a job well done. Dr. Taryor said that every one who did not attend the program but sent a registration fee of $50.00 will receive a souvenir conference package by mail.

  4. Hospital Progress Report

    Dr. Boayue apologized for not attending the inaugural ceremony, but expressed disappointment in the progress of the hospital fund-raising. He was also especially disappointed with the leadership team. He said that he has not even heard from the president of the Association. Sennie Goosby said that the president has paid his $200.00, but Dr. Boayue has not received it yet. Dr. Booyue said that approximately 10 people have paid. Sennie Goosby encouraged everyone to pay their dues to the hospital-- Kau Dolopie-Alpha apologized on behalf of the leadership team.

    Robert Suah asked if the hospital fund is for the new hospital or the renovation of the old hospital? Dr. Boayue responded that it was a pledge that was agreed upon at the Philidelphia Conference. Amos Worlobah was also confused about the hospital fund and the pledge in R.I. Dr. Boayue also explained it to him.

    The president told Dr. Boayue to have more publicity about the hospital fund. The ways and means committee should also be vigilant in the hospital fund raising. There should be letters sent out to people telling them about the hospital fund. Dr. Boayue said that there is information on the web site about the hospital fund.

  5. Progress Report from Atlanta, Georgia

    Atlanta, Ga has had their elections. Cecilia Somie is the chairlady. Joyce Deline thanked her group and said that they have made a lot of progress and hoped that people will attend in July from July 20 – 22 2007.

    Joyce Deline is the program Committee chairperson. Konah Gooding is the assistant. Philip Boayue-membership. The president encouraged the Atlanta Chapter to continue their progress and be in touch with the R.I. Chapter.

    Joyce also said that their teleconference meeting is the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. Mai Quipu Yuan suggested that they put their information on the web site.

  6. Others
    The president reminded the group that we are in need of a financial secretary since we lost Charles Abben. He also said that we need a parliamentarian because he has heard that the present parliamentarian is gone to Liberia and might not be returning.

    The president reminded the group that the Memorial Fund was set up by Charles Abben’s family and not by the association.

    The president talked briefly about the report of the three discussion sessions that deliberated on certain basic topics during the meeting in R.I. but because their reports were not yet out, we waiting until we hear from them.

    The president asked if anyone would be willing to visit the Minn. Group. Sennie Goosby told the president that the Minn. Group was expecting him to visit them.

    Paye Barclay said that the first GUMMAA was founded in Atlanta, Ga. The first conference was held in Minn. The funds that were raised in Minn. have never been reported. The president said that that was the reason why we need to visit the Minn. Group.

    Dr. Taryor announced to the group that the principal of Ganta Mission, John Glalia said that they are in need of a marching drum.

    Death announcements:
    --Mamadee Kieta had a death in his family
    --Janette Garmai‘s brother lost his daughter

With nothing else to discuss, the president thanked everyone for coming to the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 pm with the closing prayer by the chaplain, Victoria Biah.
