September 03, 2006 TELE-CONFERENCE

Meeting commenced at 9:15pm and presided over by Mr. Sam Smith, the Interim President.

A motion was made by Dr. Taryor to accept the agenda for discussion and seconded by Mrs. Uluma Sharpe. The agenda was approved and adopted.

Agenda discussed:

  1. Scholarship Fund- the money has been sent via global ministry
      $860.00- Supplement for teachers’ salary
      $340.00- Scholarships for deserving students.

  2. Individual Pledges
    Allen Blegay- will send money via global ministry for one teacher’s yearly salary in the amount of $600.00. [$50 per month for 12 months—KRTTI graduate]

    Ellen K. Miller and Ivy B. Miller. $200.00 to be sent in September and the balance $400 to be sent later---all for one teacher’s one year salary -- KRTTI graduate at $50 per month for 12 months. The $200.00 was sent to the GBOGM on Sept. 27, 2006—now awaiting receipt from the Board.

    Martha Belleh pledged $300.00 for Teachers’ salary support.

    Marie Davis and Ivy Miller--pledged to send some school supplies to Ganta Mission School through Cecelia Suomie's shipping company.

    Dr. Taryor volunteered to inquire from Ganta Mission School Administrators if the UMC has shipping duty free privileges, and if so, could they use those privileges to clear these shipments from the Free Port upon arrival in Monrovia?

    At the writing of these minutes, the inquiry was completed and the response was positive. They do have duty free privileges. They will be responsible to clear shipment from the Free Port when the items arrive.

  3. Hospital Fund- small committees have been set up. Committees’ members will be first to pay their contribution. The Tele- Conference of committee members is upcoming.

  4. Installation in Rhode Island
    Date: November 17- 19th
    November 17th- Welcome get-together at Rita Kau Madave’s residence.
    November 18th- Installation Program
    November 19th- Church service

    Fees- Members will pay $50.00 and non-members will pay $25.00 for the ball. Ticket will be mailed to all members and members are expected to pay whether they attend program or not.

  5. Regional Formation
    New England region is formed and officers elected.
    Northeastern- Tele-conference scheduled for September 10 to discuss formation and election of officers.
    Southeastern- President to meet with group over thanksgiving weekend.

  6. Constitution committee to meet on September 17 via Tele-conference.

  7. New web site- GUMMSAA-USA.ORG - is up coming

Ms Cecelia Suomie volunteered to ship supplies to school via her shipping company-THANK YOU!!

  Next Tele-conference scheduled for Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 9pm.
