Emergency Meeting for the Home Going of Charles H. Abban, Jr.
Meeting started at 8:07 pm about 30 people were present.
Invocation was led by Nancy Bank.
- The president thanked everyone for coming to the emergency meeting. The president gave a little update about Charles’ death. Charles died of high blood pressure. He died at John Hopkins Hospital. The president is still waiting for information from the family in Liberia. The wake keeping is Friday, October 27 and the funeral service is Saturday, October 28. Charles has 3 children. He will be buried in Baltimore, Maryland.
The president announced that a memorial fund to help his children would be started: The Charles H. Abban Jr. Memorial fund. GUMMSAA, to pay tribute during the funeral service. Information about the wake keeping and funeral services will be posted on the web. Also, information on close by hotel will be posted. Dr. Taryor gave the web site address

- Edward Marab suggested that we also use the other web site that he has, but the president said that we would table that for another time and use what we have now. Our contribution will be a wreath and money. He asked how much should each person pay. There were 3 suggestions: $20.00; $25.00; AND $50.00. Everyone agreed to pay $50.00. The deadline to pay the $50.00 is Sunday, October 22. Money should be sent in the name of GUMMSAA-USA. It can be sent to:

The president emphasized that our presence is very important at Charles’ funeral. About 8 people promised to be there. The president also said that all officers must try to be present.
With nothing else to discuss, the meeting was adjourned with prayers at 9:06 pm

October 1, 2006 Minutes of the 3rd teleconference of GUMMSAA-U.S.A.
The meeting commenced at 9:20 PM. Mr. Sam Smith presided. Members present were:

The president welcomed everyone to the meeting. He also read the agenda to all.
- The minutes of the 2nd teleconference were read by the secretary Gertrude Kehleay.
- Dr. Taryor questioned about the items sent by Marie Davis. It was understood that Marie has not yet sent the items. Dr. Taryor also acknowledged the $200.00 sent by Ellen Miller and sister and is waiting for confirmation from the Board of Global Ministry. Dr. Taryor asked if there was a duty free privilege for the Board of Global Ministry. The president, Mr. Smith confirmed that the Board of Global Ministry had duty free privileges.
- Martha Belleh said that she sent some money for Ganta Mission a couple of years ago and did not get any confirmation from the Board of Global Ministry. She suggested that we must make sure we get confirmation on money sent to Ganta. The president also said that we have not heard from the Board of Global Ministry about the money we recently sent to Ganta.
- The president informed us that two regions were formed; the Northeastern Region and the New England Region. He encouraged other regions to follow.
- Installation Program-Ellen Miller gave an update of what the New England Region has done.
- Pre registration was mailed out and posted on the web site
- Ticket sales are going well
- Raffle tickets are being sold and items for the raffle were being collected.
- She asked that members who are going to the installation send in their registration.
- Registration fee is $50.00
- Ellen thanked Dr. Taryor for all his hard work posting information as quickly as it came up.
- Announced that the bank account will open the next day after the meeting.
- She told us that they have gotten an installation officer and Dr. Taryor wrote the Mayor of Rhode Island to be the guest speaker. Due to the Mayor’s schedule, he was unable to take on that duty. Dr. Taryor is searching for a keynote speaker. Information of hotel, meeting of guests will be posted.
- Mr. Charles Negbe will be in charge of organizing the transportation for the Northeastern group, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, to travel to Rhode Island. Peter Wheye will arrange transportation for New York.
- The president said that all officers and National officers must be present in Rhode Island. He agreed to take 5 regular tickets and 5 raffle tickets.
- Items for the raffle are:
- $100.00 cash
- DVD player
- $25.00 Wal-Mart gift certificate
- $20.00 gift certificate
- Deadline for registration in Nov. 1
- Dr. Boayue promised to email Gertrude Kehleay the list of the database of members.
- Marian Webba suggested that we collect names and send to Gertrude or Dr. Taryor.
- Planning Retreat in Rhode Island:
Discussion on goals on what to achieve this year:
- Connecting to people in the US
- Plan a calendar of events
- Attach budget
- Set a goal for this calendar year of what to achieve.
- Web Site Report:
Dr. Taryor reported that the web page on region now includes a color map. All you need to do to locate your region is to click on your state or the particular state of the region you are searching. He also explained a little about the web site and some changes. After this meeting Mr. Edward Marab and his son will take over the web site.
- Hospital:
Dr. Boayue said that $800.00 was received for the hospital fund. He encouraged everyone to donate to the hospital fund.
- Constitution:
Allen Blegay announced that the constitution committee had a meaningful discussion and is making progress. Their next meeting is October 14. Marian Webba will compile the minutes of that meeting. She is also planning a meeting for the Southeastern Region on October 15.
With nothing else to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 10:46 pm with prayers by Ellen Miller
