Dear Friends of Ganta Mission:

Re:  Committees to Implement the Goal of the Bishop’s Ad Hoc
Committee for the New George W. Harley Hospital.

Attached is the proposed structure for the Bishop’s Ad Hoc Committee. Please note where you have been requested to serve. We hope you can help.

Although the Ad Hoc Committee will work with the Ganta Alumni Association, it does not propose to assume any of the duties of the standing committees of the association. These are the roles for the elected officials of the association.

You will note that in addition to members of the association, other friends of Ganta Mission have been asked to serve on some committees. We are also reaching outside of the association to request donations for the project.

The size of some committees may rightly be questioned. This was intentional. For example, the Ways and Means Committee is large because we want as many persons as possible to contact members of the association, local churches, and other friends of Ganta to contribute to the effort. This Committee is the workforce of the effort and welcomes all who want to help. Anyone who wants to serve on any committee should let us know. Since we are just coming together, it is difficult to know where our interests and strengths lie. We hope that all those who have been asked to serve will be able to do so. If you are unable to serve, or prefer another committee, let us know.

Nonprofit Question:  The Association is working on its nonprofit status. As far as the Ad Hoc Committee is concerned, this should not be a problem if we follow the Money Trail as suggested. We are working under the umbrella of the Board of Global Ministries of the UMC, and donations should be tax deductible. Each donor will get a letter from the Board, acknowledging the gift. Please send your donation as a US Postal money order, or a bank draft, both of which will have space for your name and address. Address it to: "A New Dr. George W. Harley Hospital", General Board of Global Ministries, The United Methodist Church, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115. Once this has been done, follow the money trail. Send it to the Secretariat and me and we will attach a letter to the Board for it to be credited to the Liberia 2.41 Account.

Dr. W. S. Boayue
Chair, Bishop’s Ad Hoc Committee
